The workhorse of South African commercial growing. A 300 m² single-span tunnel with a 10 m span and 30 m length, built from corrosion-protected steel and clad in UV-stabilised greenhouse film. Ideal for leafy greens, herbs, peppers, cucumbers and tomatoes, and sized to fit a complete NFT or drip hydroponic system inside.

Tunnel questions, answered

How much does an agricultural tunnel cost in South Africa?+

It depends on the span, length, cladding and site conditions. A standard 30m x 10m tunnel is our most cost-effective commercial option, and pricing changes if you add gable vents, ground sheeting or a full hydroponic fit-out. Send us your site details and we will put a written quotation together.

Will the tunnel survive high wind?+

Yes. Every structure is built from corrosion-protected steel and engineered for harsh South African conditions. We specify hoop spacing, bracing and anchoring to your specific site rather than using one generic design everywhere.

Do you install nationwide?+

We manufacture and install countrywide, working out of Johannesburg (Heriotdale) and Cape Town (Ndabeni).

Can you install the hydroponic system too?+

That is what we do best. Future Farms SA supplies the structure and the growing infrastructure inside it — NFT channels, drip irrigation, tanks, pumps, dosing and controls — as one turnkey project.

How long does installation take?+

A single 30m x 10m tunnel is typically erected within days of materials arriving on site. Multi-span and bespoke projects are scheduled around the design and manufacturing programme, and we give you dates up front.

What can I grow in a tunnel?+

Leafy greens and herbs such as lettuce, spinach, rocket and basil do exceptionally well, as do tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and strawberries. We will advise on crop choice based on your market and climate.
