Privacy Policy

Future Farms SA — Effective date: September 2026

About us

This Privacy Policy applies to Future Farms SA, operated by FFSA Hydroponics (Pty) Ltd ("we", "us", "our" or "the Company"), and covers all personal information collected or processed through our website futurefarmssa.co.za, our online hydroponic school and our day-to-day dealings with customers. It is designed to comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), Act 4 of 2013.

Information we collect

We may collect the following personal information from you:

  • Your name, email address and phone number when you enquire or request a quote
  • The content of your enquiry, including the site, crop, tunnel size or hydroponic system you are asking about
  • Delivery, installation or farm site addresses where we are quoting on or building a tunnel or hydroponic system
  • Account details if you buy an online course — your name, email address, password (stored encrypted), course enrolments and lesson progress
  • The name you enter for a course completion certificate, which appears on the certificate itself
  • Payment confirmations from our payment gateway. Card details are entered on the gateway's own secure pages — we never see or store them
  • Technical data collected automatically, such as your IP address, approximate country, browser type, device information and the pages you view

How we use your information

  • To respond to your enquiry, prepare a quotation and keep a record of it
  • To design, supply, install and support tunnels, hydroponic systems and related equipment
  • To deliver consulting and training services you have engaged us for
  • To give you access to online courses, track your progress and issue your certificate
  • To process payments and keep the accounting records the law requires
  • To improve the content, speed and usability of our website
  • To measure and improve our advertising (see Cookies and advertising below)
  • To comply with our legal obligations

Legal basis for processing

We process your personal information on the basis of: (a) contractual necessity — to quote on, supply or support the work you have asked us to do, or to give you access to a course you have bought; (b) your consent, where you have opted in to marketing communications; (c) our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving our business and website; and (d) compliance with legal obligations such as tax and company record keeping.

Sharing your information

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only in these limited circumstances:

  • With service providers who help us operate — our website and database hosting provider, our email delivery provider, and our payment gateway — all of whom are bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations
  • With subcontractors, installers or transport providers, where their involvement is necessary to deliver or build what you have ordered
  • With advertising platforms in the limited, non-identifying form described under Cookies and advertising below
  • Where required by law, a court order or a regulatory authority

Some of these providers process data outside South Africa. Where that happens, we use providers who apply data protection standards comparable to those required by POPIA.

Cookies and advertising

This website uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — to keep you signed in to your course account, remember your progress and measure our advertising.

We use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, provided by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, and the Google Ads tag, provided by Google Ireland Limited, to measure the results of our Facebook, Instagram and Google advertising and to show ads to people who have visited this site. They record the pages you view, when you send an enquiry through our contact form, and when you click a phone, WhatsApp or email link to contact us, together with a cookie identifier, your IP address and basic browser information. We use this for advertising measurement and optimisation, including retargeting. We do not send Meta or Google your name, email address or phone number.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland — and any visitor whose location we cannot determine — are not tracked at all: these tags are simply not loaded for them.

You can opt out at any time by blocking cookies in your browser, using your device's tracking controls, or adjusting your ad preferences in your Facebook, Instagram or Google account settings. Blocking cookies may affect parts of the site, such as staying signed in to a course.

Data retention

We keep your personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected for, or for as long as the law requires. Enquiries and quotations are kept while the opportunity is live and for a reasonable period afterwards so we can pick up the conversation again. Course accounts and enrolment records are kept for as long as your account is open so you retain access to what you paid for. Payment and tax records are kept for the periods required by South African law. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it securely.

Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Request deletion of your information, subject to our legal obligations
  • Object to or restrict certain types of processing, including direct marketing
  • Withdraw your consent to marketing communications at any time
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe we have not handled your information properly

To exercise any of these rights, email paul@futurefarmssa.co.za and we will respond as soon as we reasonably can.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, disclosure, loss or destruction. The site is served over encrypted connections, course passwords are stored in hashed form, enquiry records are restricted to authorised staff, and card payments are handled entirely by our payment gateway. If a data breach occurs that poses a risk to your rights, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as soon as reasonably practicable.

Children

Our services are aimed at adults and businesses. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Information Officer

As required by POPIA, FFSA Hydroponics (Pty) Ltd has designated an Information Officer responsible for compliance with data protection obligations. For any privacy-related query, please contact paul@futurefarmssa.co.za.

Third-party links

This website links to external websites, including our social media pages and our payment gateway. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies independently.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page and takes effect immediately upon posting.
